Rules and Regulations

 

 

Identity Card

 

Every student will be issued a plastic photo identity card on cost-to-cost basis which should be carried by them at all times while being at the Learning Centre and produce it when requested.

 

The identity card issued to a student is Learning Centre specific. Students have the privilege to utilize the facilities provided to them in the particular Learning Centre they have got the admission, and will not be valid in any other Learning Centre.

 

In case of loss of identity Card, a duplicate shall be issued at a specified cost, subject to a written request from the student, duly signed by Learning Centre authorities.

 

The identity Card is valid only for the duration of programme the student has sought the admission for.

 

This photo ID card should be compulsorily carried along to the examination centre as identity proof.

 

Attendance

 

 

Every student is expected to attend both theory and lab sessions. In case of unavoidable circumstances, the problem should be discussed with the respective Learning Centre.

 

Students must attend the lectures regularly. Students remaining absent for more than 21 days without notice in writing will be declared drop-outs and their name will be struck off the rolls. In such an event, no claim for refund of fee will be entertained.

 

Working professionals must attend the Lectures at the Learning Centre and may take up slots on Saturday/Sundays in consultation with their Faculties/Counselor.

 

 

Library

 

Every Learning Centre has its own Library. Only valid card-holders will be eligible to use the library facility.

 

 

The student can get issued one back/magazine at a time for one week. If the book/magazine is overdue, a fine at Rs. 10/- per day will be charged.

 

 

In case of loss or damage to the book, student will have to bear the expense of the book or replace the same.

 

 

In case of loss of library card, duplicate card (on cost) will be issued on the submission of a written request to the Learning Centre authorities Library card will be valid only for the regular duration of the programme.

 

 

Library card will be valid only for the Learning Centre in which the student has got admission.

 

 

Payment of Semester Fee

 

 

It is the responsibility of the student to pay their fee within the deadline as communicated by the University. The fee has to be paid before the start of the semester as per as the deadlines. The LC shall not make any individual correspondence for fee submission. The total semester fee (including regular examination fee) has to be paid before the start of a session.

 

In case the student doesn’t pay the fee within the deadline, late fee will be charged as per decision of the University. In case the student doesn’t pay the fee during the above mentioned period, the student will be deemed to have dropped the course & will not be allowed to continue the programme.

 

The fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted for subsequent semesters.

 

Students must check the University website for important instructions & deadlines.

 

The mode of payment shall only be Demand Draft in favor of “The Registrar, Punjab Technical University”, payable at Jalandhar.

 

 PTU shall not be liable for fee paid in cash to the Learning Centre.

 

 

Centre Transfer Policy

 

Leaning Centre Transfer will be allowed only to other cities in case of situations, like transfer of job, medical grounds etc, and that too will be with the approval of existing Learning Centre, RC/ARC & the University.

 

The student is not permitted to take transfer to any other University/ College or other PTU affiliated institutions.

 

Centre Transfer will be allowed only it the course is being conducted at the destination Learning Centre.

 

The student takes transfer to any other Learning Centre without the approval of University, his/her admission will be cancelled & the fee will stand forfeited.

 

Centre Transfer within the same city or within the radius of 10 kms is not allowed under normal circumstances.

 

In case of Centre Transfer, the student has to fill a Centre Migration From and obtain a No objection Certificate from the existing LC & destination LC. 

 

 

Discipline

 

Students are required to observe the decorum while attending the programme.

 

No student will be allowed to enter into the Learning Centre without permission of the Learning Centre authorities, once they have completed the programme or have been expelled.

 

PTU has the discretion to close a Learning Centre and in such cases the concerned students should contact the respective RC for re-allocation to a new Learning Centre.

 

This prospectus carries an admission from in the OMR format. Students must go through the detailed instruction of the form before filling the application form.
